First implanted peripheral nerve stimulator
Dr. MacNicol performed the Helmcken Pain Clinic’s first ultrasound-guided percutaneous implanted peripheral nerve stimulator procedure in December 2022 for a patient with radial neuralgia. The patient reports that the results have been ‘amazing’ so far.

Group sessions
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Rachel Grimminck (psychiatrist) has started offering group cognitive behavioural skills group sessions via Zoom. The classes are once a week for 10-12 weeks. We anticipate new sessions will start about once every 3 months. Contact the office if you want to go on the waitlist for future sessions.

What we do
The physicians at the Helmcken Pain Clinic assess and treat a variety of chronic pain conditions using a whole person model. Treatments include: education, referral to physiotherapy or kinesiology, medications (not including opioids or cannabinoids), injections, advanced procedure, referrals to other physicians, and suggestions for acceptance committment therapy, pain reprocessing therapy or other CBT strategies.…
