Shoulder blades

Scapular imbalance is treated by stretching some muscles while activating and gradually strengthening others.

Maintain good posture when you are sitting or standing. Keep your shoulders back and low with your head ‘balanced’ as neutrally as possible on the top of your spine.

Rest your head back against the head-rest when in cars and avoid ‘hunching’ your shoulders up.

Exercises that can help include:

  • Levator scapulae stretches
  • Scapular retraction
  • Ball rolls
  • Low rows
  • Wall (or floor) slides
  • Shoulder shrugs
  • Scapular push-ups
