Prolotherapy involves injecting concentrated dextrose (sugar) into the body to irritate the tissues and reactivate the healing process. It may also modulate local inflammatory and immune responses and is thought to strengthen ligaments and tendons.
Prolotherapy works particularly well for muscles but can also be useful for connective tissues such as joints, ligaments, tendons and fascial planes.
Prolotherapy injections are not covered by the BC medical services plan, WSBC or 3rd party insurers. The cost depends on the complexity of the procedure and amount of prolotherapy solution used.
